To Set Up Authorized User Access

If your parent or guardian plans to pay the enrollment deposit and future bills at KU, it is important for you (the student) to set up Authorized User access. Please do not share your KU Online ID and password with others. Here are the steps to set up an Authorized User:

Navigate to Campus Personal Information > Setup Authorized Users Or on the Student Center page, under the Personal Information Section

Payer Keys allow authorized users to access your KU balance and make online payments on the KU Enroll & Pay site.

To activate a Payer Key, fill in the first and last names as well as an e-mail address and then save the page. After saving, you will see a combination of letters, numbers and symbols under the Payer Key column. This is the Payer Key that is assigned to your authorized user. Provide your 7-digit Student ID and Payer Key from this page to the person who will be making payments. Be sure to give the authorized user the exact code.

Once you have created an authorized user, they should go to the Enroll and Pay website (https://sa.ku.edu) and login using this KU Online ID and Password:
KU Online ID: PAYER
Password: payer9*

Once logged on, they will provide your student ID number (not your KU Online ID) and the Payer Key to access your balance information and the credit card / eCheck payment link.

If you no longer wish a person to act as an authorized user, you can change the status of that Payer Key to “Inactive” and save. You may create up to 5 Payer Keys by using the plus button to the right of an existing authorized user line.

Be sure your Authorized User is marked as “Active” and Save the page once you have completed entering the information. For more information on authorized access and instructions for Authorized User, click "Help - FAQ" in the Areas of Interest section on the right-hand side of the Student Center page once you have logged on to Enroll and Pay.

If your Authorized User wants to pay the enrollment deposit by check, they will need to login and print the form (instructions below).

To Request a Deferment of the Enrollment Deposit

New students who plan to attend KU but would like a deferment of the $200 enrollment deposit must meet one of the following criteria to qualify for a deferment:
  • Student received a KU admission application fee grant from the Office of Admissions and scholarships
  • Student will file the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with a maximum Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $3,850 (this will not be approved until the FAFSA has been filed and the student has the demonstrated need)
  • Student currently participates in a TRIO program, GEAR Up, or Project Discovery
  • Student received the ACT/SAT fee waiver or participates in federal free/reduced lunch program
Students must complete the deferral form and submit as soon as possible. A student's admission may be canceled if the deferment form is submitted late. If the deferment is approved, the student's admission will be reinstated. The student will be notified by postcard whether or not the deferment has been approved. When a student receives a deferment, they do not have to pay the $200. This means that the $200 will not be subtracted from their total bill so their entire bill will be due.
