What do I need to apply?
The University of Kansas has a long and respected tradition as a top public university that demands the best of its students. Your high-school academic, extracurricular and community activities are part of the information you will be asked to submit in your application, as are standardized test scores. Requirements for admission will vary depending on whether you have attended other colleges or training schools, are reapplying to the University, or are applying to certain schools, departments or programs.
Freshmen
You are a freshman if you are a graduating high-school senior or you have earned a high-school diploma or a General Education Diploma and have not attended any postsecondary institution such as a college, university, community or junior college or vocational-technical school.
Transfer
You are a transfer student if you enrolled at any postsecondary institution after earning a high-school diploma or GED. A postsecondary institution is a college, university, community or junior college or vocational-technical school.
Non-degree
You are a non-degree seeking student if you are attending another college or university and want to enroll at KU for a few courses; if you are an adult student not interested in degrees who would like to enroll in a few courses; if you want to take college-level courses while still in high school; or if you want to take undergraduate courses for Graduate School or for a certification program.
Re-admitted
If you previously attended the University of Kansas and would like to return to complete your education, you can apply to be readmitted.
International Students
Students who intend to enter KU to pursue a bachelor’s degree should apply to an undergraduate program. Proof of English proficiency is not required for admission, but all international students, including those from English-speaking countries, must have their skills verified by the Applied English Center. Visit the site for International Student Services to learn more and apply.
