A Complete Application Includes:
  • Application for Admission
  • $30 Application Fee
  • An official transcript from each college you have attended (fax transcripts from the school will be used for admission decisions only. Official mailed transcripts from the school will be used for posting of transfer credit)
  • Co-curricular Summary (for Scholarship applicants)
  • Scholarship Essay (for Scholarship applicants)
  • Letter of recommendation if applying for the Community College or Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (for Scholarship applicants)
If you have earned less than 24 semester credits with grades you must also include the following:
  • Final High School Transcript with graduation date or GED scores (must be official mailed transcript from the high school or the State GED Agency. NO faxes allowed for final high school transcripts)
  • ACT or SAT scores
Your application will not be processed until all the above has been received.
Kansas Residents
Kansas residents transferring to the University of Kansas must meet the following admission requirements:

  • Students must submit a complete application with the $30 fee before the deadline
  • Have official transcripts mailed from each college or university you have attended by the appropriate deadline and
  • Have at least 24 credit hours at the time of application with a 2.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale from a community college or another regionally accredited college or university.
    (Students who have completed fewer than 24 hours when they apply must meet different requirements.)
Out of State Residents
Out of state residents transferring to the University of Kansas must meet the following admission requirements:

  • Students must submit a complete application with the $30 fee before the deadline
  • Have official transcripts mailed from each college or university you have attended by the appropriate deadline and
  • Have at least 24 credit hours at the time of application with a 2.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale from an a community college or another regionally accredited college or university. (Students who have completed fewer than 24 hours when they apply must meet different requirements.)
If you wish to transfer with less than 24 credit hours
Students who have completed fewer than 24 credit hours at the time of application will be evaluated on a combination of their college transcripts received directly from each institution, their final high school transcript mailed from the high school, and ACT or SAT scores. The University of Kansas will look to see if the student has the appropriate college GPA (see Transfer Admission Requirements), AND the student must also meet one of the three freshman admission requirements (see Freshman Admission Requirements). They will be required to submit college and high school transcripts and standardized test scores along with their application and $30 application fee.

Earned Credit
KU accepts a several kinds of non-traditional earned credit including Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, military courses and the College Level Examination Program. Retroactive credit is also offered in foreign-language classes, and ACT/SAT scores may exempt you from certain requirements.

Transfer Credit
Many classes at your current or former school may be transferred to KU. However, you must submit official transcripts of completed coursework before a final determination can be made. Click here to see how credits will transfer.

NOTE:
Late applicants might be put on a waitlist depending on the size of the incoming class. There is no guarantee of admission or that the application will be processed by the first day of classes for late applicants.


Admission Status
Once your file is complete and the $30 application fee has been paid, the Office of Admissions and Scholarships will inform you of your status in three to four weeks. You must meet the minimum criteria to be considered for admission.
