Is KU the right school for me?
The University of Kansas is a major public research and teaching university. Since its inception 140 years ago, KU has fostered an atmosphere that values diversity in all its manifestations, as well as the open and active inclusion of students, faculty and staff in the learning and governing of the institution. Academic achievement
Historically, KU students have built an impressive record of scholastic achievement. A total of 25 KU students have won Rhodes scholarships since that award's inception. KU ranks twelfth in the nation among public universities for the number of first-time National Merit scholars enrolled in 2005. KU also has one of the oldest honors programs in the country.

Atmosphere

Affordability
KU is recognized nationally as a "best buy" university for the high quality of its programs and faculty and its reasonable tuition rates by magazines like Kiplinger's and college guide books like the Fiske Guide to Colleges, Kaplan's and the Princeton Review

KU tuition this year was 6 percent below the Big 12 Conference average for resident tuition and more than 10 percent lower for non-resident tuition. KU tuition ranks 30th among the 34 most prestigious public universities — members of the Association of American Universities (AAU) – at nearly 25 percent below average.

Accolades
The Fiske Guide put KU on its list of the 14 best buys in US public higher education.

U.S. News ranked KU 39th among the nation’s top 162 national public universities.

KU is a “college with a conscience,” according to the Princeton Review’s recent publication 361 Best Colleges. It places KU among the top 81 schools in the nation when it comes to service-learning programs and blending academics with community service.
